Ottawa Geek Market Arts Scholarship

We are very proud to announce the creation of the Ottawa Geek Market Arts Scholarship program which seeks to recognize geeky artists who show great promise in the field and who share our passion for comic books, science-fiction, fantasy, gaming, anime, or horror.

We will be awarding one $1,000 scholarship in each of the following categories:

  • Costuming (costume-making, cosplaying, design, sewing, etc.)
  • Traditional/2-dimensional art (painting, drawing, charcoal, etc.)
  • Sculpture (wood, clay, polymer, etc.)

Arts Scholarship Finalists Announced

Without further ado our finalists are:

  • Costuming: Annie DeRochie, Catherine Burt, and Mia Bell.
  • 2d/traditional art: Anna Xu, Steve Woolley, Katrina Jofre.
  • Sculpture: Vanessa Vogler, Madison Foran.

The costuming finalists will be invited to model their costumes during the costume contest on Saturday October 3 starting at 6:15pm. Winners for the costume category of the scholarship will be announced during the contest.

The finalists for 2d/traditional art and sculpture will have their pieces displayed throughout the weekend of Ottawa Geek Market. The scholarship winners will be announced Sunday, October 4th at 4:15 pm on the stage in the Capones Ballroom.

We would like to sincerely thank all the artists who applied! We received many high-quality pieces and our jurying committee had a difficult time choosing the finalists.
